Logomania! Almost every second fashion blog is writing about it – unfortunately mostly not really nuanced. Are there only two sides? Pro or anti logo? Is this a topic to fight about, a topic where you can only be pro or against logos? Am I a cad when I wear a designer logo on my chest and real stylistic assurance is shown through understatement and the only designer logo that’s allowed to be shown is on the label on the inside of the clothing?

Logo-Mania – gefühlt jeder zweite Fashion-Blog spricht darüber momentan und oftmals aber wenig differenziert. Es gibt zwei Seiten: Pro-Logo und Anti-Logo. Sind wir hier bei einem Streitthema, muss man eine Stellung beziehen? Bin ich sobald ich ein Designer-Logo auf meiner Brust trage ein Prolet und zeigt sich wahres Stilgefühl durch das Understatement aus und das einzige Designer-Logo, dass eine Klamotte haben darf, ist das auf dem Etikett an der Innenseite?

SoHo (ll) or 5 lessons learned #ANDYxNYC

I already showed you some impressions of SoHo and a more classic look last week. Today I’d like to show you another one – more casual though – and want to share with you five lessons I’ve learned and I was thinking about during my time in NYC a lot. I really wasn’t that active on Instagram (and even less on here), because I was just overwhelmed by so much in the blogger business. The pressure, the rumors and envy. I even thought about quitting blogging as a job. But I really took my time an I want to share with you five lessons that changed a lot for me. And it’s universal – I bet you can find yourself in them as well, even if you’re not blogging. 🙂

Letzte Woche habe ich euch bereits ein paar Impressionen bzw. einen Look, den wir in SoHo geshootet haben, gezeigt. Heute gibt’s einen anderen Look aus SoHo. Zudem möchte ich mit euch fünf Dinge teilen, über die ich mir während meiner Zeit in New York Gedanken gemacht habe und die mich auch sehr beschäftigt haben. Ich war ja ziemlich inaktiv – sowohl auf Instagram als auch hier – und das lag daran, dass mir das ganze Instagram- und Blogger-Business zu viel wurde. Die Gerüchte, der Neid, der Druck. Ich habe sogar darüber nachgedacht, das Bloggen im Sinne eines Jobs aufzugeben. Daher habe ich mir bewusst die Zeit genommen und nachgedacht – hier also meine fünf Lektionen, die ich gelernt habe. Sie sind übrigens universell übertragbar und nicht nur für Blogger. 🙂

‘Tis the season! Only 10 days left till Christmas Eve and I don’t have any gifts yet. I’m always late when it comes to almost everything – I’m one of those “last minute” guys. But most of the time I’m late, because I already know what I want and what to do! So I already know what I’ll get for my family and friends and what I buy for myself – of course! 😉 For a few years now there’s always something from one certain company on my Christmas wishlist: bracelets from ANNA Inspiring Jewellery.

Es weihnachtet sehr – auch bei mir! Es sind nur noch 10 Tage bis Heiligabend und ich hab wie immer noch keine Geschenke. Generell bin ich mit meinen Weihnachtsgeschenken immer relativ spät dran. Ich bin Typ „Last Minute“. Das liegt wahrscheinlich aber auch daran, dass ich mittlerweile weiß, was ich wem zu Weihnachten schenken kann und was eigentlich immer gut ankommt. Und was auch ich mir selbst zu Weihnachten schenken kann. 😉 Bei mir sind seit mehreren Jahren immer Dinge von ein und derselben Firma auf meiner Wishlist: Schmuckstücke von ANNA Inspiring Jewellery.

An ode to New York #ANDYxNYC

New York is great. Big. Overwhelming.

Dirt everywhere, sirens so loud and lights so bright. Times Square the very first time. Nothing but tourists, shirt sellers and police officers. Empire State. Central Park. Brooklyn Bridge. An afternoon in Harlem. Let’s hang out in Williamsburg. Do some shopping in SoHo. See the skyline in Dumbo. I never felt insecure or strange – you know New York from all the movies. And songs. Concrete jungle. There’s nothing you can’t do. And you get attached. So easily.
After ten days I had to leave. Heartbreaking. Bye, love. But a a part of me stayed there.

Two years later. Our comeback.

I’ve been waiting so long and the city embraces me with sunshine and noise. Noise in the middle of the night. No sleep, just me, the night and New York. And it feels fabulous.
It’s hard to adjust the first days. New York changes a lot. So fast. Constant change. But it feels real.

It feels like the very first breath, when you’ve been drowning underwater.

I’m resurfacing. I feel alive.

In the city of hope. The city of dreams. The city of contrasts. I don’t care about the dirt, the noise, the crowds. I appreciate the ugly faces and the beautiful ones. The never-happening silence. The smell of the dirt when you walk down the streets early in the morning. The rats in the subways. The crazies that cuss you out. That’s New York. And the longer I stay, the more I know we belong together.

Happy Fall #ANDYxNYC

I almost missed fall this year somehow. Since I’ve been back to Germany, it’s been grey and winterly cold. There’s been even snow! Fall came really late when I was in New York City. Cooler days came when I was about to head back to Germany. What a pity!

I really love fall. I love when the leaves change their colors and fall down, the quietness after the exciting and crazy summer. When you have to bring back your sweaters and when you drink a spiced latte.

Den Herbst habe ich irgendwie in diesem Jahr verpasst. Seitdem ich wieder in Deutschland bin, ist es nur noch grau und winterlich kalt. Und den ersten Schnee gab’s auch schon. In New York traf der Herbst erst Ende Oktober ein und ich konnte ihn dort auch nicht so richtig genießen.

Dabei liebe ich den Herbst. Ich liebe es, wenn alles ein bisschen ruhiger wird, nach einem aufregenden Sommer. Wenn die Blätter sich färben und schließlich fallen und wenn man seine Sweater wieder rauskramen muss und sich den ersten Spiced Latte gönnen kann.
