I already showed you some impressions of SoHo and a more classic look last week. Today I’d like to show you another one – more casual though – and want to share with you five lessons I’ve learned and I was thinking about during my time in NYC a lot. I really wasn’t that active on Instagram (and even less on here), because I was just overwhelmed by so much  in the blogger business. The pressure, the rumors and envy. I even thought about quitting blogging as a job. But I really took my time an I want to share with you five lessons that changed a lot for me. And it’s universal – I bet you can find yourself in them as well, even if you’re not blogging. 🙂

Letzte Woche habe ich euch bereits ein paar Impressionen bzw. einen Look, den wir in SoHo geshootet haben, gezeigt. Heute gibt’s einen anderen Look aus SoHo. Zudem möchte ich mit euch fünf Dinge teilen, über die ich mir während meiner Zeit in New York Gedanken gemacht habe und die mich auch sehr beschäftigt haben. Ich war ja ziemlich inaktiv – sowohl auf Instagram als auch hier – und das lag daran, dass mir das ganze Instagram- und Blogger-Business zu viel wurde. Die Gerüchte, der Neid, der Druck. Ich habe sogar darüber nachgedacht, das Bloggen im Sinne eines Jobs aufzugeben. Daher habe ich mir bewusst die Zeit genommen und nachgedacht – hier also meine fünf Lektionen, die ich gelernt habe. Sie sind übrigens universell übertragbar und nicht nur für Blogger. 🙂

9 Uhr. Ich sitze gerade mit meinem Iced White Chocolate Mocha im Starbucks südlich der Houston Street. Falsche Bestellung eigentlich. Ich hasse den Mocha iced. Aber heute wird es wieder mal super heiß. Mitte Oktober in NYC. Erstmal ein paar Mails, dann ein Shooting und danach shoppen. Denn – ich bin in SoHo. SoHo ist wohl der hippste Stadtteil Manhattans (vergessen wir mal ganz kurz Williamsburg in Brooklyn). All vegan everything, die coolsten Boutiquen, die stylishten Leute. Die Architektur der Gebäude macht SoHo auch zu dem perfekten Platz zum Shooten. Die gusseisernen Leiter an den Fassaden der Gebäude treffen auf weiße und beige Fassadenstrukturen, welche an die Zeit des Barocks und der franzözischen Renaissance erinnern. Zauberhaft. Zum Arbeiten in Cafés gehe ich auch wirklich am liebsten nach SoHo. Jeder macht hier irgendwie sein Ding, man wird inspiriert von den Streetstyles (unbedingt an’s Fenster setzen!) und kann jederzeit in die coolsten Stores. Übrigens: Das Soho House in New York liegt übrigens nicht in SoHo, sondern im Meatpacking District unweit des Highline Parks.

9 a.m. I’m sitting in a Starbucks somewhere south of Houston Street and sip on my Iced White Chocolate Mocha. Wrong order actually. I hate my White Chocolate Mocha iced. But today will be another super hot day. In the middle of October. So I don’t mind. I’m planning my day – first some e-mail action, then a photoshoot and after that some shopping. I’m in SoHo – ain’t no place better for doing that than SoHo. It’s the coolest district of Manhattan (let’s forget Williamsburg in Brooklyn for a second). All vegan everything, the best boutiques and the most fashionable people. The architecture of the buildings is just made for bloggers. The cast iron stairs on the walls of the buildings and beige and white facades with their special structures, which reminds you of Baroque and French renaissance, are just too pretty. Even for working in cafés SoHo is my district of choice. Everybody’s hustling, you get inspire by those amazing streetstyles (sit close to a window!) und you can go to some sick fashion stores or eat the hippest food in your break. By the way: New York’s Soho House is not in SoHo – it’s in Meatpacking District.

an ode to new York



New York is great. Big. Overwhelming.

Dirt everywhere, sirens so loud and lights so bright. Times Square the very first time. Nothing but tourists, shirt sellers and police officers. Empire State. Central Park. Brooklyn Bridge. An afternoon in Harlem. Let’s hang out in Williamsburg. Do some shopping in SoHo. See the skyline in Dumbo. I never felt insecure or strange – you know New York from all the movies. And songs. Concrete jungle. There’s nothing you can’t do. And you get attached. So easily.
After ten days I had to leave. Heartbreaking. Bye, love. But a a part of me stayed there.

Two years later. Our comeback.

I’ve been waiting so long and the city embraces me with sunshine and noise. Noise in the middle of the night. No sleep, just me, the night and New York. And it feels fabulous.
It’s hard to adjust the first days. New York changes a lot. So fast. Constant change. But it feels real.

It feels like the very first breath, when you’ve been drowning underwater.

I’m resurfacing. I feel alive.

In the city of hope. The city of dreams. The city of contrasts. I don’t care about the dirt, the noise, the crowds. I appreciate the ugly faces and the beautiful ones. The never-happening silence. The smell of the dirt when you walk down the streets early in the morning. The rats in the subways. The crazies that cuss you out. That’s New York. And the longer I stay, the more I know we belong together.

Back in Munich. Back in everyday life.
The project NYC. Failed?
There were no blog posts, but tons of InstaStories and insights in my days in the concrete jungle. But why no content on the blog? A change is gonna come! I really started to think differently about the whole blogging business, about what I want, who I want to be, what I want to achieve. Stay tuned… Keys of Andy 2.0 is coming.

Kein Blogpost, dafür massig InstaStories und Einblicke in meine Tage dort kamen online. Warum kein Blog-Content kam und weshalb ich hier alles anders aufziehen werde, werdet ihr Schritt für Schritt in den nächsten Wochen erfahren. Es kommt Keys of Andy 2.0.
Ich glaube, mir war noch nie so klar, was ich möchte, welchen Weg ich einschlagen will und vor allem was ich nicht möchte und loslassen muss.
