You can’t understand a city without looking at the way people dress.

I have already written about my origin in the blog post “Small Town Boy x Urban Classics” in the context of fashion. Since my long (and repeated) stay in New York City has changed a lot and is still influecing me and my way of thiking about style and fashion, I’d like to show you in this post in cooperation with Urban Classics an updated version of the old blog post – my style, which was heavily influenced by the casualness of big cities.

Da sich durch meinen langen (und wiederholtem) Aufenthalt in New York City einiges geändert hat, zeige ich in dem Post in Kooperation mit Urban Classics eine upgedatete Version des alten Blogposts – mein Style, der stark von der Lässigkeit der Großstadt beeinflusst wurde.

歳月人を待たず – Time waits for no one.

That’s a Japanese saying. It means: try new things and do them now since time’s flying! What are you waiting for? Get to know foreign cultures, new cuisine and exotic countries. Or — like me — the new whisky of the Japanese traditional house Suntory, which not only combines everything mentioned before, but even refers to the topic time, since Toki, the name of the new whisky, is Japanese for the word time. Recently, the new Suntory Whisky Toki was introduced to a selected group of journalists and bloggers in one of Munich’s finest restaurants called Koi.

So lautet ein japanisches Sprichwort. Bedeutet: probiere neue Dinge und tue sie jetzt, denn die Zeit vergeht so schnell. Also los! Fremde Kulturen kennenlernen, neue Kulinarik und Länder. Oder — wie ich — den neuen Whisky des japanischen Traditionshauses Suntory, der nicht nur irgendwie alles zuvor genannte verbindet, sondern welcher mit dem Namen Toki, japanisch für Zeit, genau noch auf diese anspielt. Vorab fand nun im Münchner Koi Restaurant das Launch-Event statt, bei dem der Premium Whisky vorgestellt wurde.

322 Meter entfernt vom Südende des Central Parks liegt ein Hotel, welches bereits von außen wirklich imposant ist: das Park Central. Vor wenigen Wochen durfte ich einen Teil meines New York Aufenthalt dort verbringen. Ich bin normalerweise nicht so leicht zu beeindrucken, aber das Park Central hat es geschafft…

Arriving in New York City always feels a bit like coming home. It’s a special feeling I only experience there, somehow like seeing your lover after longer time. I’m not sure if I already can call it my second home, but hopefully one day it is. Until then it has a special place in my heart.

During my last stay in the greatest city ever I had the opportunity to stay at The Time Hotel New York, a true pearl in the concrete jungle. Located on 49th street and broadway, the boutique hotel is close to everything you should see in NYC. The first thing I noticed when I arrived there on a warm Wednesday afternoon: the design! You can see the love of details on every corner. Everything’s kind of matchy matchy and is looks well-thought-out and sophisticated. And guess which colors are used – my favorites: grey and gold.

Nach New York zukommen, fühlt sich für mich irgendwie ein Stückweit immer immer an, wie nach hause zukommen… wie wenn man eine Fernbeziehung führt und die andere Person nach Wochen, Monaten wiedersieht.

Während meines letztens NYC Aufenthalts hatte ich die Möglichkeit im fantastischen Time Hotel New York zu bleiben. Direkt am Broadway und der 49. Straße, befindet sich das Boutique-Hotel mitten im Concrete Jungle, Midtown Manhattan. Das erste, was mir in’s Auge gestochen ist als ich an einem warmen April-Nachmittag ankam: DESIGN! Das Hotel ist bis in’s kleinste Detail designt und durchdacht. Nichts wirkt wie dem Zufall überlassen – im Gegenteil: alles ist irgendwie matchy matchy, wahnsinnig sophisticated und zufälligerweise noch in meinen Lieblingsfarben: grau und gold!

Issey Miyake, a Japanese fashion designer, is very famous for his beauty and cosmetic products. Especially his fragrances are classics – for men and women! In 2017 he launched his latest and first unisex fragrance: L’Eau Majeure d’Issey.

Issey Miyake, der japanische Modedesigner, ist mittlerweile bekannt für seine Ausflüge in die Kosmetik- und Beauty-Branche. Vor allem seine Parfumkreationen sind sehr beliebt und mittlerweile echte Klassiker – sowohl für Herren als auch Damen.
2017 launchte er nun seinen ersten Unisex-Duft: L’Eau Majeure d’Issey.

Design by water is truly the best way to describe this fragrance. L’Eau Majeure d’Issey’s flacon is like a pebble: sleek and one of a kind. That Miyake got inspired by water is very obvious, if you take a look at the colors and shapes of the flacon. L’Eau Majeure d’Issey is like a progression of his famous classic L’Eau d’Issey Pour Homme. Sea notes are mixed with sensuality. It opens with notes of bergamot and grapefruit. Surrounded by a salty wind, the fragrance gets more woody and sensual with time. Notes of woods and amber in combination with cashmeran turn this fragrance into a aquatic and fresh masterpiece with a hint of spice and masculinity.

Inspiriert durch die Kraft ungezähmten Wassers, kommt L’Eau Majeure d’Issey in einem glatten, an einen Kieselstein erinnernden Flakon. Das Wasser und seine lebendige, pulsierende, frische Kraft die Inspirationsquelle für das Parfum und den Flakon waren, ist auf den ersten Blick erkenntlich.
L’Eau Majeure d’Issey ist dabei eine Weiterentwicklung des Klassikers L’Eau d’Issey Pour Homme. Meeresakkorde treffen auf Sinnlichkeit. Der Auftakt ist spritzig: Bergamotte und Grapefruit liefern eine zitronige Note. Das ändert sich jedoch gleich, denn L’Eau Majeure d’Issey zeigt seinen würzigen Charakter mit einer aquatischen Frische. Intensiv entwickelt sich der Duft auf der Haut, bevor er seine sinnliche Note zeigt: Cashmeran, Holzakkorde und Amber entfalten sich und geben dem frischen Duft ein wenig mehr Maskulinität und Würze.

Recommended for: men and women, who want to have an aquatic and fresh fragrance for spring without missing the spicy and sensual notes of winter colognes.

Zu empfehlen für: Männer und Frauen, die nicht ganz auf Würze bei aquatischen Düften verzichten wollen, aber trotzdem einen frischen, spritzigen Duft für den Frühling bevorzugen.
